The Great Turning in Awakening

Awakening isn’t about grinding away or forcing yourself to change through sheer determination. You don’t get there by pushing harder or chasing after some ideal version of yourself. In fact, it’s less about effort and more about a quiet moment of realization—where you suddenly see that you can’t keep repeating the same old patterns forever.

The roots of awakening really take hold in those delicate times when you feel a longing inside—a gentle nudge from your soul, calling you to something deeper. If you pause for a moment and let life’s busyness fade into the background, you might sense a loving awareness quietly waiting for you to relax and let go.

This Presence—pure Awareness—isn’t asking you to be smart, strong or more ‘spiritual’. It’s not something you need to figure out or explain. It’s just there, flowing as unconditional love, showing up as your own consciousness. Awakening isn’t about what you know or how hard you work; it’s simply about surrendering.

The real turning point doesn’t happen by setting new goals or picking up more spiritual practices. It’s not about promising to meditate more or be a better person. It’s a wake-up moment: you realize you’ve been trying to live through a version of yourself that was never meant to carry such a heavy load.

The “mythical me”—the part of you that worries, plans, and tries to control everything—was never really running the show. Eventually, this personal self gets tired, longing for rest, because it’s just temporary and limited. The self you think you are can’t actually awaken itself; it’s just a story of separation. Only Grace can spark real awakening.

Grace cracks open the window to your True Nature, letting you glimpse who you truly are. When this happens, your True Nature gently starts to unravel the stories and beliefs you’ve carried with you through life.

You can’t make Grace happen. You can’t force it with your willpower.

The best invitation isn’t to strive, but to surrender. So many of us have wanted awakening so badly that we’re willing to jump into the unknown, hoping something bigger will catch us. But transformation only truly begins when we let go—when we stop trying to control everything and trust the process.

Surrender isn’t about giving up to something outside yourself. It’s about dropping the illusion of personal will, letting go of the need to feel separate or special or in charge. The big turning point happens when you realize the separate self can never reach the Infinite—it’s made from the idea of separation and can’t touch the Divine Mind or the vastness of your True Self.

When you really surrender, there’s a softening—a willingness to stop relying on just your own understanding. Sometimes, a quiet voice inside simply says, “I can’t do this anymore.” Don’t hear that as defeat; it’s actually the beginning of Grace. In that honest moment, you drop the rules of the separate self and open up to the truth. This is where your deepest essence quietly reveals itself.

  • The personal self tries to plan and control outcomes.
  • True Nature allows life to unfold gracefully.
  • The personal self reacts out of old habits and conditioning.
  • True Nature stays present, even when life gets turbulent.
  • The personal self worries about the future.
  • True Nature dwells in the timeless Now.
  • The personal self seeks safety and security.
  • True Nature is safety itself.

In the end, when the personal self is just too tired to keep going, you don’t fall into despair. You’re welcomed into the warm, limitless embrace of pure Awareness—into the heart of the Divine. Every moment of softening becomes fuel for the fire of freedom. Every old pattern that dissolves becomes compost for consciousness. If something in you feels touched or stirred, even subtly, follow that thread. Pause today and sense the quiet hum beneath your thoughts — the Presence that has never left you. You’re not striving toward awakening. Just turn toward the stillness that’s already holding you. Let it show you what’s true.

Grateful to walk this path with you,
