WHAT IS SPIRITUAL DIRECTION AND ITS BENEFITS?

Spiritual Directors International member Marian Cowan, CSJ sums up the true focus of spiritual direction beautifully by stating:

“Spiritual direction is a time-honored term for a conversation, ordinarily between two persons, in which one person consults another, more spiritually experienced person about the ways in which God [or however one names the Divine, Holy or Universal] may be touching her or his life, directly or indirectly.

More specifically, spiritual direction can help one attain a highly personal, mystical experience with the Divine. As an Interfaith Minister and Interspiritual Director with more than 25 years of experience, my deepest intention is to support an individual’s evolution of the soul. Attaining direct experience with the Presence is my focus. “Presence” may be viewed as God, the Divine, Self, Beloved, Inner Being, Higher Power or any other name one is comfortable using. My motto is “One Love, Many Paths” for the highest intention of all faiths is to experience conscious contact with God. Not just knowing about God, but truly allowing the lower, false self to dissolve as your “God-Self” assumes divine reign. The presence of your God-Self becomes a significant and continuous part of one’s daily awareness, leading to transformation in certain areas of one’s life.

Individuals who are serious and committed about their spiritual awakening are the best fit for my particular approach. Creating a safe and loving atmosphere, I teach how the daily practice of devotion, surrender, humility and gratitude are a powerful and proven way to awaken. It also can activate your prana and kundalini forces which are essential in Self-Realization. Meditation, contemplation, authentic prayer, and waking practices I also integrate to support one in connecting with their deepest truths and experiencing spiritual transformation. Together, we will gently probe your heart so you may unearth a spiritual process that aligns intimately with your soul.

My formal spiritual training is extensive and includes One Spirit Learning Alliance in New York, the New Seminary in New York and various leadership programs since 1995. But the crux of my training has been deeply personal and experiential.

My professional background in spiritual leadership entails teaching A Course in Miracles for fifteen years, co-founding and leading the first interfaith spiritual center in Central Coast California, teaching meditation and numerous programs on forgiveness, nighttime dreams, sacred activism, the power of kundalini during the awakening process, and much more. As a published author, I have contributed to national publications throughout the U.S. and Canada since 1994. My spiritual path and practices encompass Kryia Yoga, the ancient Vedas, and Bhakti Yoga because my spirit relishes an eclectic and interspiritual approach to experiencing God.

Session Information:

My sessions are 60 minutes long and I offer my spiritual support on a donation basis. (Please note: donation-basis payment only pertains to spiritual direction, not my regular counseling practice.
